How to associate project with "Default notification scheme"

Duan November 13, 2018

Currently it's associated with "CC: Simplified notification scheme". Thank you!

Hi Nebula Tech,

May I ask if you are on Server or Cloud and if you are the JIRA Administrator as you would need this privilege to change the notification scheme associated with a project.

You can find how to associate a notification with a project here

Hi, Thank you very much for your reply.

We're using JIRA cloud. The doc "Creating a notification scheme" says that "Default Notification Scheme. This scheme is associated with all new projects by default", but when I tested with notification helper, it showed that the project was using "CC: Simplified notification scheme". Plus I don't see a "notifications" link under project settings so I can't change the association.

Can you show me how to do the association?

Hi Nebula,

Can you confirm if you are the Jira Admin (not just a project admin).

This may need confirmation with your colleagues because it seems you do not have enough permission at the moment.

Hi, yes I am using the account to create the site, so I am the Jira Admin.

Following are the screenshot when I look at project, and notification setting pages.

That is odd.

These are the options available to me in my Cloud instance.

I am both the project admin and the JIRA Admin of the site.

This makes the behaviour you reported a very odd occurrence.

You do not need to be the project administrator to edit the Notification scheme as this is meant to be done by the JIRA Administrator.

I just noticed you are creating a project based on the Next Gen project. I am unfamiliar with this and would need to check how it works.

Looking at this project type, it wold seem there is no way to change the notification scheme and it may actually be an experimental setting.

I would suggest:

  1. Create a new project - Use the old project creation format instead of the Next Gen.
  2. Move all issue from your current project to the new one.
  3. Set the notification scheme you want to the project.
  4. Contact Atlassian directly as they may be in the best position to advise you on this and secondly, this feature was added 2 weeks ago, I doubt they are done with it.

You can read more about it here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Next-gen-articles/Next-gen-projects-the-new-project-experience-in-Jira-Software/ba-p/814932/page/7#U941712
