How to add "insights" in Jira Software?

Pierfrancesco Di Ruzza June 20, 2025

Hi! I have a team-managed project in Jira (Scrum).

I would like to add "insight" column in my epic/story/task (for instance, like jira product discovery)

The problem is that Jira says that it's "LOCKED", don't know why.

How can I solve that?

Gotcha! So, it sounds like you're trying to add the "Insight" field to your Jira tasks, but it’s locked. That usually happens because, in team-managed projects, you can’t freely edit all fields.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Check Project Settings: Go to your project’s settings and look under Fields. You might be able to unlock or add the "Insight" field there.
  2. Create a Custom Field: If it’s a custom field you want, you might need to create it under Issue Types or Field Configuration. But, team-managed projects can be a bit limited in that sense.
  3. Jira Product Discovery: If you’re using Jira Product Discovery, the field might be locked because it's tied to that feature, and you might need specific permissions to change it.

If you really need more control, switching to a company-managed project could give you all the flexibility to tweak things the way you want.
