How to add history to an issue

I need to migrate issues to Jira and want to preserve its existing history of changes.

Hence, I need to add history to a newly created issue in Jira.

Is there way to add history to an issue by performing a edit ?

If you edit an issue, that will be written into the issue history. This is what issue trackers (should) be for.
