How to add a user to my Jira Software Project on a free tier?

Ming Wai Leung April 14, 2024

Using the Add People Button doesn't allow me to add any new people to my project board. Note: I am on a free tier as we're currently with 5 users only.

I've tried everything via the higher user management, adding them all to the admin groups.. But I find no way to have them eventually in my board.. I can type/select the persons in the pop-up, but I can not select a whole (which in fact i don't need). The button to add is blue and clickable but it doesn't do anything at all..

Anyone has an idea?

Hi @Ming Wai Leung

Have the users got access to your Jira instance?

If yes, what do you need them to have on the Board? View access? Or something else?

I suppose they can reach the board (to be tested tomorrow) but I would like them to be able to assign themselves to issues and view for example only their or other person’s issues on the board.

Hi @Ming Wai Leung

They should be able to assign themselves to issues.

Once assigned to at least one issue on the board, they'll be listed in the "members" section based on their icon, it's the row of circles next to the search box on a board view.

You can click on a circle to filter the board to see issues assigned to specific user(s) :)

Great! It was indeed a matter of UX / interpretation of what I saw. They were in fact already part of the project but by not seeing them as icons i assumed they were not. Thanks a lot!
