I want to add a custom field to an asset object to link three different object types into one field on the asset record. Is there a way to do this.
I know you can add a custom field to a form and screens.
But I want to add the Custom Field to an Asset Object.
Is there anyway to do this.
You cannot add a custom field to the asset object, because the asset object is the custom field itself.
I thought so, it needs to be addresses in the future. I need to link an Object to several different Object Types and do not like the idea of creating a field for each. Like Server and Network devices. I should be able to link them without creating fields for each. And asset Objects are not custom fields but a collection of Objects in a Database. Custom field is a reference to those Object types. But I do understand what you are saying and that is why I can not find a way to directly link a Custom Field to an Object Type.

Hi @Timothy Brown , thanks for your post.
Could you show with some screens (anonymised is fine) what you mean exactly?
You want, in Assets, to have an attribute that links it to other objects?
You can have an attribute of an object of type object, so they are connected between each other, like this
If this isn't what you mean, please can you explain?
Best wishes
