How to - When someone replies to Jira ticket, add that person's name to the email notification

Rami Hammoud August 12, 2021

Hello,

How to configure Jira tickets to add the name of the person who commented on a ticket to the email notification? A good example would be if you have a group of helpdesk people commenting on tickets, its ideal to have the name of the person who replied to the ticket show in the email notification.

Something like:

ticket #1234:

Helpdesk employee #1 replies, you'll get this in the email notification:

Jason Statham (Jira) <it@yourcompanyname.com>

Helpdesk employee #2 replies, you'll get this in the email notification:

Dwayne Johnson (Jira) <it@yourcompanyname.com>

Thank you,

Hi @Rami Hammoud and welcome,

In every service desk project, you can modify the notification which are sent out. There is an option to edit the "Public comment added" notification. By default. e.g. in the cloud version of JSM, that notification has the structure you are mentioning.

Grizz Frix commented:

The droid works great on flat, uniform surfaces. The problem happens more often in the field. Can we modify the body design?

${event.user.name} commented:

${comment}

Did you try to change the notification?

Alex

Thanks for your reply @Alex Koxaras -Relational-

unfortunatley i don't have this option "Public comment added"

I tried to add "current user" in "issue commented" notification settings but it didn't make any change when i commented on the ticket. The email notification is still using the generic email account without my name in it !

Thanks,

under "Public comment added" notification, in the "to" field i only see "customers involved". What should i add there to have the commenter name visible in the email notification?

thanks,
