How to - Disable or Restrict Original Estimation Field for a User in Issue Type

Currently, Original Estimate field is available to everyone. As an ADMIN user, i want to disable or restrict my team to NOT make any changes.

Is there anybody who should be allowed to edit this field to either set an initial value or modify the value?

Do you want to keep other time tracking features enabled?

Hello Trudy,

As an Admin User, only me should be able to enter or edit and set up estimate to Original estimate for all the Sprints / Project

Issue is team is able to modify the original estimate mid sprint, which i want to restrict.

Are you working with a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project.

The only way I know to do this for a Company Managed without a third party app is (summarized)

1. Remove the field from the Create and Edit screens.

2. Add a new looping transition called Edit to each Status in your workflow

3. Restrict access to that transition to Admins, using a Condition.

4. Create a screen that includes the field

5. attach the screen to that Edit transition

The field would then be editable only by admins, and they would have to use the Edit transition in the workflow to access the field for editing.

I don't work with Team Managed projects, so I don't know if this could also be done there. I'm not sure if the workflow in Team Managed projects allows attaching a screen to the transition.

There may be a third party app that would enable you to lock individual fields. I have not had to search for such an app before.
