How to Auto Caculate the Time Between two Status?

How to Auto Caculate the Time Between two Status?

I know there's a gadget show the Resolution Time, but I want to caculate the time between two status. Just like from open to closed. How can I do that? Use JQL? Or use gadget?

Thanks! Can I search out the time by JQL in the issue navigator? I want search them out and notify the users. How to do that?
