The Jira UI changes so much is ridiculous. How do you add a new status today, in 2024?
It's a company managed project.

New Status values can be added by clicking the gear icon near your avatar, selecting Issues, then working through the Statuses page

To add the status a workflow would require modifying the Workflow.
