We are looking for adding user in distribution list to Jira internal group, as we have 150+ projects in Jira and a set of project are owned by different set of Team(like marketing, support, dev and other teams). Each of these teams have their own set of DL's and only people who are part of DL's should have access to set of project in Jira.
Since Jira project roles doesn't support adding DL's to Project roles, How do we pull DL user's into Jira groups and assigning those groups to project role?
Appreciate any suggestions here using scripts or native LDAP functionalities.
Thanks,
Vijay
Hi Vijay,
Not a LDAP Expert but I can confirm it's going to be challenging. If you have groups in LDAP, they can be brought to Jira and used for Roles but distribution lists might not be groups... That being said, when setup LDAP integration you can use different properties as a "group membership" flag, maybe the distribution list membership could be used for group membership if you're not using groups from LDAP?
There are other way to import them but the issue would be maintaining them in sync with LDAP :(
Let's hope someone else will come with a better suggestion!
Cheers
