As an admin I have created a user account for one of my counterparts. How does this person access the Jira board? I access the board by using my computer name and port number. How will the added user get there? Will they have to download Jira, link it to our license, and then do the same thing?
People should use the "base url" of your system - the place where it announces itself to the world (or at least your network)
If, for example, your base url is https://MrFlibblesEmporium.com/jira then that's the link you give them. If it contains a port because you haven't relocated, then yes, that url might well become something like https://MrFlibblesEmporium.com:8080/jira
You can, of course, use deeper links, including ones directly to a board. As long as the first chunk of it is the base url, it should be fine.
Your user does not need to download or install anything beyond a moderately standard web-browser (heck even Internet Explorer works, although you should really only be using that to download a proper browser)
I sent the created user the link to the project that I was using that contains my computer name and the jira port. Is this the best practice or am I missing something?
