How does one get Story points added back to a scheme if it is missing?

We have an issue type called " UXdesign"  and it was supposed to be just like the "story" type, except that the Story type has  the ability to add Story points, while the "UXDesign" type does not.

Everywhere I look in the project settings, it seems to be set-u to be mirroring the Story fields.

On the Issues view field configuration it states the Screen. The Screen has Story points as a field. Both "Story" and "UXDesign" are using the same "screen". I would assume that they should be both asking for the same fields, but this is not the case. Story Points are missing.

I cannot find how to make the two "issue types" require  the same fields.

We have built 2 workflows, one to support Development and one to support Design. We are using the "Type" to automatically put this Issue type into the Design workflow. It all seems to work well, except we can't figure out how to add story points to the UX Design issue type.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to Atlassian community!

By default, the context of Story points field is only applicable to Stories and Epics. This is an intended configuration of JIRA to restrict this field only these issue types as explained in the documentation below:

- Configuring estimation and tracking

That been said, you can change this context to be applicable for other issue types by performing the following steps:

- Navigate to JIRA Settings > Issues > Custom fields or type GG > Custom fields

- Find the Story Points field > Click in the three dots menu > Configure:

- Click to Edit configuration > Select under the Choose applicable issue types section what issue types should contain the Story points field

- Click Modify

Thank you very much. As I mentioned above we needed to have an alternate workflow for the design process and had gotten stuck. This resolves the ability to assign points to Design tickets in the same project and use a separate workflow within the same project counting towards the full teams velocity. We can no create Individual Boards for Dev, Design and Management that contains both. Yahoo!
