How do you remove historically complete jobs from the backlog in a Scrum Board?

We have just started using the SCRUM boards, so have hundreds of historical jobs, that are completed across multiple projects that all pull through into the backlog...how can I flag them all as complete, so they no longer show up in the backlog for the project (They are basically tasks from previous sprints before we used the Jira boards to manage these / try to manage this beast!)?

Note: To address the "why did you do that!?" point some may focus on (but is not necessarily the issue), the project with the backlog has a filter that pulls items from many projects through. This was done because having a separate project for Helpdesk work (Non-Billable) and one for each customers billable work / requested work was the only way we could get Jira to provide a workflow that actually manages the billing and approval workflows / customer portal views in a usable way (because Jira and most solutions seem to be hugely lacking in the concept of managing estimates that are then internally and externally approved...and then often blown out and re-estimated and re-approved etc. and then used as evidence to show customers the scope changed and they asked for it / re-approved it etc.). ...happy to chat about that also, but it's not todays problem :)

Hi @Phil Ryan ,

welcome to the Atlassian community!

DOD (definition of done) is based on Resolution field. Please move all completed items to a final status and ensure that all of them have a resolution.

Hope this helps,

Fabio
