How do you remove an ex-team member from receiving notifications

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

A member of my team has moved to pastures new.  I have removed his Jira account but he is still getting notifications for the issues and Confluence pages that he was watching when he was on the team.  Is there any way to remove him from all notifications from our JIRA and Confluence instances without going into every issue/page he was watching?

Deactivate (not delete) his Jira and Confluence accounts.  That stops emails, as he won't have any right to see the pages or issues any more.
