How do you make a field a "REQUIRED" field

I have 3 fields the user wants to make them required fields. How do you do that.

1. Test Cycle

2. Priority

3. Date opened

Like John said.  If you want the field to show up on the screen with a red asterisk (marking it as required), then make it required in the field configuration. 

Creating a validation to check if the field is populated will allow you to create custom error messages

You can do that one of two ways. You can but a validator on the Create transition for each of the fields.

Or you can change the Field Configuration for that issue type for that project. This article will walk you through how to do that:
