How do you load User type objects in a bulk upload without guid?

Eric Pozzobon January 4, 2023

We are trying to create a recurring bulk upload for one of our Asset Management objects. One of the fields we need to bulk upload is the User Record, which links the object to JIRA user records. The only way we have been able to do this so far is to grab the GUID for the user.

Is there a way to more natively load the user record to an asset management object? All the manual work we have to do to prepare our bulk uploads is seriously deteriorating the value of the plugin.

The bulk import doesn't currently allows you to do imports that contains user attributes, the reason is that because the bulk import is using a token that is not tied to a user everything is imported as an anonymous user. Because of this that user does not have access to Atlassian users. There is a bug logged on this, let me see if I can find it.

Here is the suggestion to support user type attributes in external import, JSDCLOUD-10732

@Mikael Sandberg Thanks for the link. A shame this boils down to another incredibly basic and vital piece of functionality that will likely sit in Atlassian's backlog for years to come.
