We're looking at migrating from Jira Server to Jira DataCenter. How do we estimate starting hardware requirements (CPU & RAM) for the installation?

Hello, @George Turnbull . Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The nice thing about migrating from Jira Server to Data Center is that you can start with what you have currently.  An initial migration could be as simple as adding the Jira Data Center license to your current server instance.

At that point, you have flexibility to create a cluster of identical servers behind a load balancer ("scaling out").  You want to make sure your database is on a dedicated server and the "shared home" directory is on a network drive (NAS, SAN, etc).

As a very broad getting-started rule of thumb, you should be looking to size each DC node at the same size as a single server system for the users and data you have!
