We found that using a dedicated test management tool in conjunction with Jira yields much better results than managing everything with Jira issues or spreadsheets.
We recently brought Tuskr on our team mainly because we wanted something simple to manage test cases, plan test runs, and track execution without adding a lot of complexity. The Jira integration has been a good way to link failed tests back to bugs, while still keeping test management separate from our development efforts.
It has been a good fit for our small QA team so far, but I know that every team has different priorities based on their workflow and release process.
I'm curious to know what other small teams are using. Have you had positive experiences with other test management tools, or do you prefer to manage everything directly in Jira?
For very small teams, Jira issues (or even a lightweight checklist) can be enough
