Hey!

I found a solution just for Data Center.
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/configuring-contexts-and-default-values-for-the-description-field-1047552727.html

How to do the same in Cloud ?

Thank you very much!

Hi @Possegger, Markus

Welcome to the community.

This option is not available in Cloud, but you can make a work around (wa).

  1. Create a multi line text custom field
  2. Give it a context to the project(s) and/or issue type(s) you want to use it on
  3. Create the default value
  4. Add the CF to the field configuration (if required, by not using the default)
  5. Create a new or copy the existing create screen
  6. Add the new field to the create screen and remove the description field from the screen, if you copied the original screen
  7. Make sure to also have a separate edit, view or edit/view screen (dependent on your setup)
  8. Add the create screen to the required action in the screen scheme
  9. Create an automation rule
    1. Trigger: Create issue
    2. Condition: if needed
    3. Action: Re-fetch issue data
    4. Action: Set the description field by copying the data from the CF

@Possegger, Markus  You can use an external plugin. I can suggest using our solution - Dynamic Forms for Jira for Cloud where you don't have to write a single line of code. It has a default value and the ability to conditionally set fields hidden/visible on a screen.

If you need any help with configuration or overview our team can help you with that.
