How do I modify the Member role on next gen projects?

Hi,

I'm looking at https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/overview-of-permissions-in-next-gen-projects-959283605.html which talks about the default permissions of roles on next-gen projects.

I'd like to modify the Member role so it has a few more permissions, but it doesn't show up in the project roles admin screen.  How can I do it? I did try creating a Member role myself but it didn't seem to do anything.

The phrase "Here's a list of the permissions granted to default next-gen project roles" implies I can probably modify these roles later, but I can't find any way to do it.

project settings > People change the role. Note you don't have a lot of choices for NG: Admin, Member, Viewer is it.

It's easy to change which roles people are in, but I want to modify the permissions granted by a role.
