How do I make a Documentation Task like an issue and not like a subtask in workflow?

I am trying to turn a Documentation Task into a seperate task (like an issue or story), so that the documentation team (as they are small) can be aware of it but it will not affect the definition of "done" by holding up the development story. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks so much

Sounds like your documentation task type is a sub-task type? You can convert sub-tasks to issues (or better, add a new issue type of "Doc task" as a top-level type and use that). Go to the issue view and look on the options menu, you should find "convert to issue" as an option on sub-tasks (and vice-versa on the top-level types)
