Ubuntu 18.04 is a Linux that can run Oracle's Java, and hence is a fully supported OS.

The Linux installer however, is only tested on CentOS, and the recommendation for non-CentOS systems is to use the .tar.gz installation instead.

However, the installer works fine on my Ubuntu, apart from failing to do anything about creating the systemd files needed for automating service start/stop.

Sorry, my answer crossed with Shankar's - he's right about the .tar.gz

I also meant to continue with my answer and ask for more detail about the errors you get - when I run the installer, it starts asking me questions about what I want to install.  Could you tell us exactly what you get when you run it?  Ideally, the plain text from the command line (as that's easier to read than a screen shot, and you can paste full history in)

Nic, are you using Java (eclipse or Netbeans) on Ubuntu 18.04 by any chance? thanks

I'm using a load of stuff running java on Ubuntu - several of the servers I've got run java applications.

Netbeans I tend to run on Debian or Sparky, as those two seem to suit my laptop best.

Thank you , for some reason, my 32 bit operating system is having problems opening up a "new project" on Eclipse and Netbeans , i wonder if it has something to do with JDK version 10 not supporting Ubuntu.

It might.  Also, the Atlassian stuff doesn't run on 10 yet either.

Hi Ali,

Ubuntu is not a supported OS from Atlassian. We suggest to choose an operating system from the link (supported platform) given below;

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/supported-platforms-938846830.html

If the linux installer does not work, you may try downloading the .tar.gz and install from there.

Thanks

Shankar
