How do I import work from other spaces into the top level planning template?

I have used Plan Settings , Work in your plan and added other spaces and boards to the top level plan. It correctly shows as 600 work items but on the plan page, I cannot see the Epic and work items from the spaces added.

Hi @Faustina Eadie

Welcome to the community.

How is your hierarchy set, are any filters applied and do you have access to all work items from all individual spaces?

Thank you. My filters were set to Initiative level only, which has fixed the primary issue. I do have a follow up question.

The Epics from different projects have been associated to the Initiative from the Parent tag, however I would like to display in the plan all relevant Epics from different sources associated to that initiative.

Initiative 1

  • Epic 1
  • Epic 2
  • Epic 3

and so forth.

But is currently displayed as

Board/ Space 1

  • Initiative 1
    • Epic 1
    • Epic 2
  • Initiative 2 ...

Board/Space 2

  • Initiative 1
    • Epic 1
    • Epic 2
  • Initiative 2

Hi @Faustina Eadie

Sorry I missed your follow-up question and maybe you have resolved this already.

In your Plan settings for your portfolio, make sure that "Work in your plan" is set to 'space' and not 'board'.

In the Basic view you will then see the full view from Initiative and downwards independent what space the exist in.

I have verified this in my own sandbox environment where I have the following Hierachy:

Initiative-> Business Epic -> Feature -> Story/Task

Hi @Faustina Eadie and welcome!

If you have added the spaces under board settings you should be able to see the work in the Timeline.

Additional things to check:

  • Do you have any filters applied to your timeline (check the hierarchy filter)
  • Do you have access to the spaces you have added to the plan?

Let me know if this helps!

/Staffan

Thank you. It was the hierarchy filter set to initiative only.
