How do I delete comments from an issue?
I cloned an issue and checked the option to keep the related comments - now that they are there I can't get rid of them.
Hello @judy.bergstresser.ext
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
If you have permissions to delete your comments, or the permission to delete others' comments, you will see the Delete option below each comment.

The question is how do you delete the unwanted comments from an issue YOU just cloned. The UI offers "include comments" - but doesn't say you'll have to delete the entire story if you do, because you cannot remove the unwanted comments 'you' just created.

Hello @Jeff Lomax
I just created this issue using the native Clone option and checked the box for Include Comments. As you can see, following the instructions I provided above, I am able to delete the comments that were created in the new issue by the cloning process.
One must have the Delete Own Comments permission to delete comments for which they are the author. If the comment is authored by another user than one must have the Delete All Comments permission to delete other users' comments.
If you find this does not match your experience, please start a new Question in this forum by clicking on the +Ask a question button at the top of the screen, and members will attempt to advise you.
Adding to a pre-existing post alerts only the original author of the post, people that responded to it, and people that Watch it. That does not get much visibility to your issue. If you start a new Question that will make your post more widely visible.
Also, adding to posts that are 6 months old or older is discouraged in the Community Guidelines and is referred to as "necroposting".
