How do I change the parent for an issue

I have an issue (an epic) that I need to move to a different parent issue (different initiative). In essence moving a child issue from one parent to another parent.

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

1. You can edit the Parent field in the Epic.

2. While viewing the Epic you can hover over its parent issue key in the breadcrumbs at the top to reveal the pencil/edit icon. Click on that for a dialog to choose a different parent.

3. In a Plan that shows the Epic and its parent along with other qualifying parent issue types, you can drag and drop the Epic from its current parent to a new parent. You then have to review your Unsaved Changes and accept that change for it to be applied back to the Epic outside of the Plan.
