How do I change the fix version date to be a date instead of a day of week

When I click on the Fix Version on an issue in Jira, I go to a Summary page. The description says Due: Friday. The users are confused by this, since today is Friday and the release is set for next week Friday, not today. Can I change the Description field to show MM/DD/YYYY instead of DayOfWeek?

You need to change Day Format in JIRA Look&Feel Administration.

I updated the Day Format to dd/MMM/yy. This had no effect on the description in the fix version page. It still says 'Friday'.
