How do I change estimation type?

I'm having problems with my project: it turned out we have been estimating our issues in storypoints while we log work in hours. This makes the workflows worthless. 

I want to estimate in hours, how can I make this work?

Jira support says: 

Go to your board, then select more > board settings.

This is nowhere to be found on my board.

But, to answer the question, the tasks have the estimate field, it's just not shown.  You will need to add "time tracking" to the create, edit and view screens for the task issue type.  Also check it's not hidden in the field configuration for tasks
