Hello @Robbin Miculinich  ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

📌 Important Note:

🚨 Simply being a Watcher does not guarantee you’ll be notified of comments.
It depends on whether the Notification Scheme is set to notify Watchers for the "Issue Commented" event.

✅ Option 1: Automatically Watch Issues You Comment On

To make sure you're at least a watcher on any issue you interact with:

  1. Click your avatar → Personal Settings

  2. Under Preferences, enable:

    • "Automatically watch issues you report or participate in"

        Manage your Jira personal settings

📌 This ensures you're added as a watcher whenever you comment, update, or transition an issue.
But again, receiving a notification depends on the Notification Scheme.

✅ Option 2: Manually Watch the Issue

You can click the 👁️ Watch icon on the issue manually, or press W as a shortcut.

🔔 You’ll only get notified if Watchers are included in the “Issue Commented” event in that project’s notification scheme.

✅ Option 3: Ask Your Admin to Verify Notification Scheme

To ensure you or Watchers get comment notifications, a Jira Admin should:

  1. Go to Settings → System → Notification Schemes

  2. Locate the scheme used by your project

  3. Check if "Issue Commented" includes the Watcher role (or specific user, group, etc.)

        notification schemes

🔧 This is the most reliable method to control who gets comment notifications.

This ensures you’ll get notified for every comment, including your own.

Hi, @Robbin Miculinich

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

You can make Automation rule, which will add comments with your mention to required issues.
Its pretty easy. You need to write text in comment like:
```
[~accountId:712020:12345678-1234-4321-90bf-0987654321], pay attention to this issue
```
After accountId: add your user account ID. You can see it in address bar, after people/,  when yo go to your Profile:

Hi @Robbin Miculinich

Welcome to the community!

You could add yourself as a watcher on the issue that will trigger an email for any update to the work item.

By clicking on the "eye".

Hope this helps.

As a point of clarification, the notifications that will be sent to issue Watchers will depend on how Notifications have been configured for the project. They may not be set to notify Watchers of every update to the issue.
