How do I add a value to a empty field in the Details section when it is not displayed?

I have a field in JIRA that does not display in the  Details section on the right panel of the screen.

When there is a value is not empty, the field displays.

When empty however, I'm not able to figure out how to edit the work item to add a value to the hidden field in the Details section of the work item.

Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The fields added to the Hide when empty section in the Work Item Layout appear under More fields.

If you prefer to have the field displayed in the Details section while the field is empty, you can follow the below steps:

1. Navigate to Space settings > Work Items > Layout
2. Drag and drop the field from the Hide when empty section to the Details section 
3. Click on Save changes
