How come a custom field is not sortable in a "Timeline"?

Created a custom "text" field so I can sort in a Jira filter

When adding that custom field to the Advanced Plan, I cannot sort via the field

Shouldn't this work?

I see other custom fields that are allowed to be used in Sorting.

I see that you tagged your post as applying to a Premium subscription.

If your question concerns the Advanced Roadmaps Plans timeline, I see there is general change request about being able to sort the data by any custom field. You can add your vote/comments to it:

The sort by the user picker (single user) doesn't work. I saw the other ticket and not sure what single select means. It will be quite helpful to sort by the user in the projectplan 

Any suggestions?

Also, in you new Question please explain exactly what you mean by it doesn't work? Are you able to select the user picker field in the Sort options? Is it not sorting in the expected order? Provide screen images of what you see and explain how it doesn't meet your expectations.
