We are working based on a story with estimate "X", and the team after grooming adding their sub tasks under this story and estimate each task to be all in total equal to the main story size which is "X". But most of the time the quality team reports bugs and we add them as sub task bug under the main story. But that means if we estimated this bug the total will exceed the main story estimate?! So how should we do this ?
Hi @Amina Aziz , welcome to the Community.
My question would be - why is having the bug effort exceeding the estimate a bad thing? What that would tend to tell me is that our estimation did not consider the necessary effort to ensure bugs did not exist or to ensure that bugs were actually fixed. In other words, I think that addressing bugs is important to capture. Having said that, the other thing you could consider would be to link the bugs to the story instead of adding them a sub tasks. By doing so it does not mess with your estimation.
