How can I use the keyboard shortcut for commenting without getting the "m" in the comment?

I love the keyboard shortcuts, but recently using the commenting shortcut "m" has also included an "m" in the comment itself which is quite annoying. It stopped for a week and then came back. How can I get it to stop doing this?
