How can I reate a backlog into an existing KanBanboard?

I have a KanBan with too many old To Do´s and want to include a backlog now. If I put tickets in my Backlog, than the whole To Do´s are in the Backlog. If I want to move the tickets now to the column To Do, jira says: We can't move this issue to Open SCRs / To Do List. Check if your workflow allows this transition and if all transition conditions are met.

What does this mean?

Let’s start by having a look at your workflow. If you are using CMP then go to project settings workflows and view or edit the workflow. Check to ensure that you have transitions from your backlog to whatever status you’re trying to move into.
