How can I move the storage of a Gliffy diagram to Confluence from Jira?

We have the GIFFY plugin in Jira so I made a large diagram within one of my Jira stories. Now I want to store it in Confluence and make updates from there, but the only option I have been able to find to store it in Confluence is by exporting it as an image and then storing the image in Confluence. 

I even tried to export it as a Gliffy extension but the file displayed with an error in Confluence? I want to close to the story in Jira so don't want the master file stored in there.
