I'm fairly new to Jira, so you'll have to pardon my ignorance. We've been using Jira for about 5 months. When we first started, I was playing around, and I was able to merge the global and contextual sidebars on the left. I'm not sure what I did, but somehow, about two days ago, those two separated, and are now two separate side bars, which makes for a really unpleasant user experience. How can I merge them back together?
I am having this same problem as well. Hiding just collapses the grey menu. Before, the backlog and active sprints buttons where on the blue part of the side bar.
I hate this arrangement and would like to go back to how it was before.
Hello,
Could you provide a screenshot with the sidebars you are talking about?

Screenshot below. In my research to find the solution, global and contextual seemed to be the most common terms I saw for the names of the menus. Sorry for the confusion. I don't have any screenshots of how the menus looked before, but, to describe it, there was a single menu on the lefthand side. It looked exactly as the global menu does now, except that it was white, and in the gap, there was a scrollable list of icons representing each of the menu options available in the contextual menu.

I did discover this when I was looking through, but it's not what I was seeing before. This still gives me two menus. It does give me some screen real estate back, but it also means that, if I want to switch to the active sprint, I have to move my mouse over to the side bar, and wait for it to expand instead of just going to the menu on the left. It also means that if I accidentally move my mouse over the hidden menu, it pops out, which covers up two inches of my screen.
No, this is not the worst thing ever, but it is annoying, and I did have a single menu bar before which I was very happy with. If there's an easy way to go back to that single menu bar, I'd like to know what it is.
