How can I delete a status?

For some reason I can't publish my workflow. Jira always tells me that my draft contains an invalid status ("Idea").

Unfortunately, I also can't delete the status from the workflow or delete the status itself.

How can I publish the workflow?

I would discard the draft of the workflow that you are experiencing the error with. Then refresh and see if the status is actually there or not. 

And another route is to copy the current workflow and see what shows up in the new, inactive workflow.

Don't try to delete the status from here. 

Something has gone wrong with your system, but I suspect it is as simple as someone deleted the idee status while you had the draft open in edit mode.

Go back into editing the workflow and find the broken status.  Edit that step, and change the status to something else, a status you know is valid, even if it's wrong for the workflow and you will come back and change it again later, just swapping to a valid status should get you past this problem.
