Hi,
I have been working with a board in Jira Software and it'd be extremely helpful to automate the creation of tickets from email. The problem is that I'm receiving the messages in a Gmail - Group, not in a proper gmail account.
I was wondering about 2 possible workarounds:
i. is it possible to link Jira to a Gmail Group? not to a email in particular? Eventhough it is not autenticated? How can I do so?
ii. Discussing with a coworker, we've noticed that jira management creates an specific email address for creating tasks/issues. Something like your-project@your-board.atlassian.net. Is ir possible to have an email like that for Jira Software? If so, is it possible com configure an email handler for ir, in Jira Software?
Do you guys have any other suggestion?
ty, FM
Hi @Fernando Henrique De Souza Miranda,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Yes, it is possible to set up an incoming mail handler for JSW, have a look at this KB that describes the default mail handler that you can use. Just note that you can only have a single email address compared to JSM which can have an email address for each project.
And yes, you can use Google groups for the incoming email. All you have to do is add the Jira email address as a member to that group and any emails sent to it will be forward to Jira and create the tasks. That is how we do it for our JSM projects that need multiple email addresses for a single project.
Thank you so very much, @Mikael Sandberg !
That's very promising! On that documentation, it states that the default mail handler has as parameter senderEmail=no-reply@<URL>.atlassian.net . Can I use this (or a correlated one) email address to create issues? If so, do you have any other documentation on how can we make the configs?
Thank you again for the help and guidance!
FM
