How can I bulk update tickets at "backlog"?

I can't find UI to do bulk update at backlog.

I'm using next-gen project.

There is not a means of doing bulk edit in a backlog view. You would need to create a JQL filter to retrieve the desired results and the update from there.

Quite bad UX...that would be a big reason I don't want to use next-gen project.
