hi @Shubha Khamparia !

You can apply a checklist template in bulk in different ways, depending on what exactly you need to do. Could you please share more details about your use case?

  • If you want to apply a checklist template to new stories that meet certain criteria, you can do this with our solution Smart Checklist for Jira. It has native automation features that let you set multiple conditions to automatically assign checklists.

  • If you need to bulk-edit existing stories that already contain a checklist template, this can be done with Smart Checklist's feature Linked Templates. When enabled, it allows you to edit a linked template in one work item and instantly push the changes to all existing work items that include this template.
  • If you need to add a checklist template in bulk to already existing stories without checklists, this can be done with Smart Checklist + Automation for Jira.

    I hope this helps!

Hi,

You can bulk edit stories with checklist templates using tools from the Atlassian Marketplace, like our Checklists for Jira (Templates & Automation) app and Jira Automation.

How it works with our app:

  1. Create a checklist template in the app.
  2. Set up Jira Automation using a Scheduled rule:
    • Go to Project Settings → Automation → Create rule
    • Select Trigger: Scheduled. Choose a date/time for the bulk update and add a JQL condition to select the work items (e.g., project = XYZ AND type = Story)
    • Add Action: Add Checklist to work item. Choose your template from the list. (You can see the Quick start guide for more details)
  3. Run the rule. Jira Automation will apply the checklist template to all matching issues.

Hope you find this useful!

Hi,

Bulk applying a checklist template depends on the checklist app you’re using, as Jira’s native bulk edit does not support checklist fields directly.

You can try one of the following:

* Use the checklist app’s **bulk apply** feature (many apps provide this)
* Create a Jira Automation rule to add the checklist template to matching issues
* Apply the template during workflow transitions (if supported)
* Use the app’s REST API to update multiple issues

If the field doesn’t appear in Bulk Edit, it typically means the app manages it separately from standard Jira fields.

Hope this helps 👍
