How can I automatically populate Stakeholders based on choices in a custom field

I have a Custom field called Purchase Method.  It has 3 choices

1. None
2. RI
3. BRM

If the requester chooses BRM, I would like to automatically populate the Stakeholders list with the BRM email.

one option that would come to my mind is using a workflow postfunction in combination with Scriptrunner to set the field based on your choice.

Jira Misc Workflow Extensions has a Set Field Value post function that could also be used
