We currently use Jira Data Center. we are planning to migrate to JSM in AGC once the licensing gets ironed out for our migration. In the interim I would like to automate responses from Jira Data Center to our customers to include an IssueID in the response. Currently this is not possible because Jira does not support responding to reporter who is not a licensed user. Since we use this for ticketing in a secure environment, we could not license every reporter. Is this possible through Data Center?
Hi @Mark Bierman I'm the community manager at Exalate.
You can explore external apps from the Atlassian Marketplace that provide the ability to send emails to users who are not part of your Jira instance. These apps often allow you to configure custom email templates, include dynamic fields from your issues, and set up automated triggers for sending updates to external stakeholders.
Some solutions also provide logging and tracking of sent emails so you can keep a history of communications alongside your Jira or Confluence data. Since these are third-party apps, the available features and pricing will vary, so it’s worth reviewing the options in the Marketplace to see which one best matches your needs.
Good luck with the migration!
Hei @Mark Bierman
There are marketplace apps that help bridge this gap, such as:
Email This Issue (by META-INF)
Enterprise Mail Handler for Jira (JEMH)
These tools can send emails to external users with full templating and automation support, without requiring the users to be licensed.
