How can I add transport # field as visible, with or without text in it?

In our current settings, transport # field only appears when a user puts something on it in create or edit screens.  I would like to activate it and permanently make the field visible even in view mode where users can go and enter information without going to edit screen.

if you are using the new issue view you can do it as follows.

go to an issue that would otherwise have that field and click on the "Configure" link at the bottom right column. in the Configure screen you will see several sections. The lower shows fields that are hidden if empty. drag your field from there to the middle section.

Thanks for your quick reply Jack.  Does it require Global Admin access?  I don't see the configure button.

i would have thought Project admin was sufficient but if you are a project admin and not seeing it then it must be Jira admin permissions. Are you able to get the Project Settings? If so look for Layout.

yeah i can go on the layout and can see that the transport #  is in description fields category.  However when looking at view screen, the field is not appearing.  It only appears when I key in data in it under Edit screen.
