Hi, I have a question about Jira Fix Version dates. I’m interested in understanding how both the implementation/deployment start date and implementation end date (Go Live) for a release are being captured for Fix Versions in Jira, since Fix Versions only have a Start Date and Release Date. I want to make sure we’re following industry standards, as we implement standardization across products/product lines in Jira.
Hi @[deleted],
You can see the fix version start and end dates as part of the planning for the work that is being done. Consider Jira Software as the tool that you use to plan and track all the work that is being done to build and release a version of working software.
If you associate every epic, story, bug or task that contributes to delivering that version with the defined fix version in Jira, you will be able to quickly and easily pull release notes for that version from Jira. Or you will be able to track the version report for progress. Or using Advanced Roadmaps, you will be able to tell whether you can release on time or not.
The start and end dates of the Fix Version in Jira correspond to when you start working on everything related to the release and when you actually deploy, so you can start working on that next version. They do not relate to the actual technical deployment of the release.
Hope this helps!
