How Should I Prepare for the ACP-120 Exam? Looking for Study Advice

Mark Max

Hi Everyone 👋

I’m currently preparing for the ACP-120 (Managing Jira Projects for Cloud) exam and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has already taken or passed the exam.

I’ve started reviewing Jira project configuration, permissions, workflows, issue types, schemes, project settings, and user access management. I’m also working through practice questions and structured revision with Exam4Success to help identify topics that need additional attention.

Since the exam can involve practical and scenario-based questions, I’d like to make sure I’m preparing in the right way rather than focusing only on theory.

For those who have passed ACP-120:

  • Which topics did you find most important?
  • How valuable was hands-on Jira Cloud experience?
  • Were the questions mainly conceptual, configuration-based, or scenario-focused?
  • What areas would you recommend reviewing carefully before the exam?
  • What was your approach during the final week of preparation?

Any practical tips, study strategies, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience! 🙌

Hello @Mark Max

Note that ACP-120 refers to Jira Administration for Cloud, while ACP-620 is about Managing Jira Projects. Hands-on practice is crucial, particularly for permissions and access, which make up about 30-35% of the exam.

Instead of memorizing UI locations, create real scenarios in a test instance to understand how changes to shared schemes impact your site.

For your final review, focus on Atlassian's official sample questions, the free ACP-120 prep collection, and Rob Hean's study series. Avoid third-party exam dump sites like Exam4Success, as they violate Atlassian's certification policy.

Best,

Hello @Mark Max ,

I would like to say, please follow the ACP-120 prep documents along with Atlassian Jira product official articles.

If you look at the prep documents/PDF file, for each topic there is a percentage provided so while looking at it you can understand how much that tope is important.

  • Which topics did you find most important?
    • As it's a Jira cloud admin exam, so please try to visit each topic as a Jira admin not site/org admin and evaluate all the options available/accessible.
  • How valuable was hands-on Jira Cloud experience?
    • Yes, its required. See if you dont have an practical knowledge then you will not be able to make the decisions while looking at the multiple options. As most of the options looks same, so it you are aware of how it works and have the practical knowledge then you'll be able to choose the correct amongst them.
  • Were the questions mainly conceptual, configuration-based, or scenario-focused?
    • Mostly scenario-focused and also configurations based.
  • What areas would you recommend reviewing carefully before the exam?
    • I would recommend you review team managed space config and compare with company managed. As mostly we used the company managed so you'll find many questions on team managed as well.
  • What was your approach during the final week of preparation?
    • See if you have worked on OR your daily work is on jira OR acting as jira admins then you dont need to worry, just be calm, be confident and practice the prep questions available in the course.
  • Last one, If you are not able to understand the question and now sure about the answer then just flag it off and move ahead, dont waste time there. Once you attempted all the questions then you can take your time and go thru the flag questions.
