Hi @Bala Yadlapalli ,

You can't do this with JQL as it is a search tool and not a calculation tool. There are reports that show sum up time for sprints depending if you have your estimates done by time instead of story points.

You may want to look into possible add-ons as well

Thank you Ben!

This is showing for Sprints but not for Backlogs. Is there anyway to show for the backlog?

Hi @Bala Yadlapalli,

just to add to Benjamin's great answer:

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, this would be easy to do using the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including configurable, live-updating sum-ups:

Sum-ups work for all issue fields, and can also be used in combination with JXL's other advanced features, such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), or conditional formatting.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Bala Yadlapalli,

You can easily do this with the gadgets offered by our Great Gadgets app. This app offers many useful gadgets for tracking projects in Jira.

Specifically, you can calculate the sum of remaining hours from your backlog by using its Issue Filter Formula gadget or Advanced Issue Filter Formula gadget.

With this gadgets you can apply from simple (SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE) to complex math formulas against the field of the issues from up to 6 filters and display the results on your Jira dashboard.

So, all you need is a Jira filter that returns the issues from your backlog, and then to configure the gadget to calculate SUM of the Remaining Estimate for the issues in this filter.

This app offers many other gadgets, all you need for tracking Scrum, Kanban, SAFe projects. It can be a great asset for your team and company.

To make a better idea on how many things you can track with this app, have a look over the articles from our blog

Hope this helps.

Danut.
