Hola,

Adding to what Jack and Dirk noted, some Jira Cloud users disable deletion for this reason of no "undo" feature for deletion.

Instead they may add a custom field such as "abandoned" and mark issues so they are hidden from boards and views.  Reclaiming the issue is then as simple as clearing that field.  Please discuss with your site admin if you are interested in such an approach.

Best regards,
Bill

@Bill Sheboy Could you explain how to do this "nstead they may add a custom field such as "abandoned" and mark issues so they are hidden from boards and views.  Reclaiming the issue is then as simple as clearing that field.  Please discuss with your site admin if you are interested in such an approach."

Thanks

Hi @Maria Cristina Carreon Suarez del Real -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

To do what I described:

  • Your site admin adds a custom field, such as "Abandoned", and disable the issue deletion permission.  This can be done at a project level, as desired.
  • Teams update their board filters to exclude abandoned issues.  For example,
    • project = myProjectName AND Abandoned IS EMPTY ORDER BY Rank ASC
  • When the team wants to abandon an issue, they set the custom field.  It will disappear from the boards and reporting
  • If the team later decides they need the issue, they just clear the Abandoned field

Kind regards,
Bill
