Hi I am on trial version of jira
I want to create a hierarchy where Initiative will be top of EPIC, and it say i can do this using the 'plan' view. I created a new plan and email was sent confirmation that trial has begun, however when I click the 'Plan'. it is giving me the try for free option again.
How can I create a hierarchy of Initiative - EPIC - Story while in Trial version.
Please advise.
Thanks
Joan

Hi Joan, Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
To use Advance Roadmap (Plan) in Atlassian Jira, you need to be on a Jira Premium trial. This feature does not work on Free or Standard plans. If clicking Plans keeps showing Try for free, it means the Premium trial hasn’t been activated yet. A site admin needs to go to Settings -> Billing -> Check the Subscriptions.
hi @Joan.collantes.ext !
Jira Plans (formerly Advanced Roadmaps) are only available to users with a Jira Premium or Enterprise plan. A trial for those tiers will work too. Visit the Jira Pricing page and click "Start Free Trial" for Jira Premium (not Standard).
Once active, you should be able to create a custom hierarchy. Initiatives should be available out of the box as a work type above Epic.
For more details on how to create a custom hierarchy, please see my article Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy Configuration Guide 2026. It will provide you with step-by-step instructions and the necessary context.
I hope this helps!
