Hiding columns on a kanban board

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configuring Columns

Is it possible to hide a column for yourself but still have it visible for everyone else using a kanban board?

No. A board is there to represent information to a team in the same way, so everyone is working from the same thing.
