Hello, I would like to know if there is a way to do a search on custom fields

Stephane Fraser August 27, 2020

When using the search, the custom field doesn't come up, is there a way to make it work.

Thanks

It looks you used field context for custom fields where you specified the field for a specific issue type or project.

Please just confirm the field context if you are admin or check with your admin and then use that issue type and then it will appear.

 Example: in field context if you used field with story then that field will only appear in search if you use query as

Type =story and yourfieldname

Hi Stephane,

You can search on custom fields by name or custom field ID.

  • By name: FieldName = Awesome
  • CF ID:  cf[10123] = Awesome

Review Atlassian's What is advanced searching in Jira Cloud and the links on the right side of that page. Cheers!

I've never had a problem searching for a field as long as it is in the issues and project or projects being searched for. If you are searching more than one project or issue type  and the field doesn't appear in all of them you can't search for it. I don't use Cloud, but doubt their search is different than server.
