Having issues with the story points counting for Epic burndown

Hi there,

In the company  that I am currently working with, we use Jira extensively to track our sprint progress. We have been struggling with the Epic Burndown chart for some time due to this weird behaviour of story not showing in the epic burndown chart unless, the issue is first created with no epic link associated, or that the epic link is reassigned. For this issue, I resolved it by doing bulk changes to the epic links for my tickets.

However, as I probed deeper into the generated epic burndown charts, I noticed that for some of the tickets, the story points are double counted (the issue was completed during a sprint yet the issue is still counted as work added for the sprint as well). This resulted in a scenario where there will always be additional story points remaining even though all the issues for an epic has already been resolved?

Anybody every faced such a similar situation before? Any solution?

Jira version used in the company: 8.5.3
